I'm back to this blog! Happy New Year! This update is super late because I had a horrible end to 2022 and got super ill. But I'm better now, and ready to start anew! Let's begin with the [2022 New Years Revolution Review!]
[Passed] 1. Obtain my dream job in my profession.
Technically, I didn't achieve what I had in mind at the time that I wrote this. But I got into something very close. At the root of it all, I wanted to be in a place that challenged me rather than left me complacent, and I certainly got what I wanted...
[Passed] 2. Continue developing my professional expertise such that I can be a capable mentor to others.
Being placed in a challenging work environment inevitably meant that I would learn a lot professionally. I don't know if I am a capable mentor yet, but I have certainly become a better professional than I was a year ago!
[Failed] 3. Start a merchandise business.
I got 1/10th of the way there ... I registered for an ecommerce website plan and domain and then never really got anywhere with it after that ... the last half of 2022 was a lot of adjusting! I didn't get anywhere partially because there wasn't a lot of time for me to insert that into my schedule, and also I didn't feel like there was going to be a lot of demand with where I was at.
[Passed] 4. Debut my webcomic before the mid-year rolls around.
I am proud to have achieved this pretty early on last year. I debuted 22/02/2022 on a Tuesday. It has been the best decision I made that year as many things went up. But then towards mid-year, everything started falling...
[Failed] 5. Start streaming regularly.
Haha there was no way this was going to happen with my schedule. I don't think I am cut out to be a streamer tbh ;;
[Failed] 6. Post on social media consistently.
Has social media ever been something I was good at?
[Failed] 7. Draw an illustration every month.
I don't think I drew much illustrations in 2022 which was quite disappointing, but I hope to change that this year.
[Failed] 8. Hold my goals accountable through monthly blog posts.
As you can probably see in the history, I vanished the month I got my new job... it wasn't that I forgot about doing the monthly blog posts, it was moreso that so little had been done that month that I saw no point in doing a blog post ;-; I don't feel like I was that productive last year because of my work, and consequently I have used up almost all of my backlog and is currently suffering the consequences.
[Failed] 9. Foster a community of artists to help each other learn and grow.
I tried. Kind of. :')
[Passed] 10. Learn to live a life of happiness.
For the most part, I was content with my life last year, so I will give myself a pass.
2022 Revolution Score: 4/10. I am not too surprised...I'm not very happy with the result of 2022. It started strong, then it died off creativity-wise. I hope 2023 will be a more balanced year.
2023 New Years Revolution
1. Keep my goals accountable through monthly blog posts.
I really want to do better at being productive this year, so I want to aim to have monthly blog posts to review my goals regardless if there were results or not!
2. Draw at least 1 illustration a month.
I am very disappointed that I didn't create as much illustrations as I had hoped this year. This needs to change!
3. Complete 1 chapter of my webcomic a month.
I am falling behind so badly on my backlog I am so close to having to go on indefinite hiatus. The one thing I fear the most.
4. Work on merchandise prototypes.
I don't think I will be starting up a merchandise business in 2023 with how busy I am likely to become, but by the end of it, I want to have some prototypes for 2025, depending on how my comic tracks.
5. Create an animation project.
I want to challenge myself by working on an animation project for Arcanus Crucis. I've created small animation tests in the past, but never anything serious. This year, I want to try and achieve something new!
6. Schedule my social media posts a month in advance.
Most importantly, schedule my webcomic episodes in advance so that I am not rushing to edit and upload last minute all the time...
7. Improve interpersonal skills.
8. Achieve grade goals for my return to study this year.
9. Aim for a healthier lifestyle with regular stretches.
I think I need to work on protecting my body from breaking down in later years. I don't think a goal with exercise is realistic for a snail like me, but I believe stretches will be beneficial, soothing, and achievable.
10. Refine and create a 2024 planner by late November.
I made my first prototype for 2023 that have yet to arrive. I needed one, and threw one together last minute. But I actually want to produce one as part of an annual merchandise pre-order, so I want to have an Arcanus Crucis themed planner complete with illustrated page layouts and decor as a 2024 prototype for a 2025 release.
If I thought 2021 and 2022 was hard ... 2023 is going to be even more difficult. Not only will I have the same working schedule as 2022, but I will be aiming to achieve all the goals I didn't achieve in 2022 while returning to study! ; A ; -- I wonder if this is going to be a good idea ...? Nevertheless, only time and effort will tell. Hope you all have a wonderful 2023! I'm going to go and work out my schedule now. Ciao!
