2024 New Years Revolution

Happy 2024! Let's just pretend I didn't abandon blogging for half a year lol. I blogged in my mind, so, yknow, the intention was there haha 🤣 As per tradition, it is time for the [2023 New Year Revolution Review]

Previous years: [2015] | [2016] | [2017] | [2018] | [2019] | [2020] | [2021] | [2022]

[FAILED] 1. Keep my goals accountable through monthly blog posts.

  • Haha let's not talk about this.

[FAILED] 2. Draw at least 1 illustration a month.

  • At the very last minute I managed to squeeze in one more illustration ... for a total of 3 illustrations in 2023 haha. I hope I'll be able to work harder to create pretty art for my comic in 2024.

[FAILED] 3. Complete 1 chapter of my webcomic a month.

  • I took a step away from my comic in 2023, because it was impacting my mental health and my relationship with art. I hope that by returning to it this year, I'll be more immune to the negativity that comes with being an online artist ;;

[FAILED] 4. Work on merchandise prototypes.

  • Does my planner count? haha

[FAILED] 5. Create an animation project.

  • I think I'll work on this goal when I've achieved my other goals first!

[FAILED] 6. Schedule my social media posts a month in advance.

  • I went MIA on social media for 2023, and I think that was a lot better for my mental health! When you realise there is so much more to life than the online space, suddenly, everything that happens online just seems so insignificant.

 [PASSED] 7. Improve interpersonal skills.

[PASSED] 8. Achieve grade goals for my return to study this year.

[???] 9. Aim for a healthier lifestyle with regular stretches.

[FAILED] 10. Refine and create a 2024 planner by late November.

2023 Revolution Score: 2/10 ... have I ever achieved such a low score before?!

2024 New Years Revolution

  1. Draw 12 original illustrations

  2. Complete 3 sketchbooks/journals

  3. Create a webcomic chapter every month

  4. Schedule at least 2 social media posts per month

  5. Apply to artist alley

  6. Launch an online merch store

  7. Create a 2025 planner by November

  8. Reduce spending habits

  9. Create monthly blog posts on website

  10. Find work-life balance

Although I didn't progress a lot on my digital art goals in 2023, I flourished in other areas such as returning to my traditional art roots, and improving my mental health and personal life. In 2024, with this renewed psyche, I hope to bring back the focus to my digital art pursuits! Let's see how I go this year!
